Prospective students who wish to attend ICPA are required to perform an audition and interview. The purpose of the interview and audition is to place the student with the appropriate private teacher and to access the skill level for optimal instruction. Large and small ensembles also require auditions. If the student is 7-17 years old than a parent/guardian must be present during the audition/interview. Students 2-6 years old are not required to perform an audition or an interview. Likewise, Art students are not reqiured to perform an audition or interview.
Music Department Auditions:
-Must prepare and perform 1 piece of music of your choosing (5 minute time limit)
-A 5 minute setup time is permitted
-Audition should showcase students' strongest talent(s)
-A CD player will be provided if needed. An Ipod connector will also be provided as well.
-Students are permitted to bring additional musicians and/or singers to assist with audition
-Piano, drums, guitar amp and bass amp will be provided.
-Voice students will be auditioning using a microphone
Drama Department Auditions:
-Must prepare and perform 1 monologue or scene of your choosing (5 minute time limit)
-For your audition piece, choose characters that are within your natural casting range. Avoid unnecessary vulgarity.
-Memorize and rehearse your piece exactly as you intend to perform it.
-Avoid sitting, kneeling or lying on the stage floor as these choices may present sightline problems for the auditors.
Dance Department Auditions:
-Must prepare and perform 1 choreographed piece of your choosing (5 minute time limit)
-Students are permitted to bring additional Dancers to assist with audition
