About the School of Dance
The goal of the ICPA School of Dance is to provide the highest level of dance training to every dance student, whether coming to experience the pure enjoyment and artistry of dynamic movement to music, or to prepare for a professional career in dance.Our emphasis for all levels and each dance discipline is a solid grasp of the fundamentals, strong technical, creativity, and performance skills, and an understanding of the traditions and history behind each.

Dance Classes
• Modern Dance/Contemporary Dance I Development of proficiency in modern/contemporary dance technique skills and development of an understanding and appreciation for modern dance as an art form. It offers solid training in basic dance technique and builds strength, coordination and musicality.• Modern Dance/Contemporary Dance II Continued study of modern/contemporary dance technique skills with emphasis on combinations of basic skills.• West African Drum/Dance Class Class is designed to teach students how to play West African drums while learning the correct movement according to each rhythm.• Tap I This introductory course covers the basic steps of tap technique. Students learn coordination, rhythmic variations, and performance skills through a series of tap combinations. Students are responsible for practical and written assignments.• Tap II This intermediate course covers more advanced steps of tap technique. Students continue to learn coordination, rhythmic variations, and performance skills through a series of advanced tap combinations.• Ballroom (including Salsa/Flamenco/Tango) Survey, practice and development of social dance etiquette and of proficiency in the fundamental skills of ballroom dancing. Learn the waltz, tango, Latin dances and more in this popular class.• Ballet I Development of proficiency in basic ballet skills and development of understanding and appreciation for ballet as an art form. A perfect course for beginners new to dance – this course provides a solid foundation for all dance training.• Ballet 2 Continued study of ballet techniques with emphasis on combinations of basic skills.• Ballet 3 (Pointe) Advanced ballet training and techniques• Step Class (Chicago Style Steppin) Dance form that combines the elegance of ballroom dancing with timing and other elements of various hand or social dances.• Yoga Students learn a series of physical postures as well as practical methods for relaxation, proper breathing, meditation, and concentration that promote health, alleviate stress, improve skeletal alignment, and increase muscular strength and flexibility. Course also provides an introduction to the history and philosophy of yoga, which students explore through readings and written assignments• Aerobics A course designed to develop cardiorespiratory fitness, muscle strength, muscle endurance, and flexibility through the use of various modes of exercise.• Hip Hop Development of proficiency in urban street dance styles, including the most current forms found in popular urban youth culture and understanding its socioethnic origins and aesthetics.• Jazz I Development of proficiency in jazz dance techniques, skills and development of an understanding and appreciation of jazz dance as an art form• Jazz II Continued development of proficiency in jazz dance techniques, skills and development of an understanding and appreciation of jazz dance as an artform
